I hope you are well and relaxing after your A Levels and enjoying the summer holidays! I am sure you are thinking about results day and I just wanted to offer some advice about how to approach the day and some of the things you might want to prepare for in advance.
What to do on A Level day
1. Take care of contact details UCAS, the university admissions system should already have your contact details on file. But just to be sure log into the website and double-check that everything is up to date. They'll need a valid email address, plus a landline or mobile number.
2. Check the notification process How is the university expecting to receive your results? In your case, as you took the exams at school, the results should be sent through the system automatically.
3. Talk to the school Make sure you know how - and when - results will be delivered. Are you expected to visit the school, or log into Track, or will you be notified via email? If you're unsure, check with the school.
4. Don't make plans for results day! As soon as the results are out, you will need to act quickly – hopefully it will simply be a question accepting your offer! If things did not go so well and it looks as if you may have to consider going through clearing then you need to call me. There's a very narrow window for taking action, so you need to be sure you are somewhere with a reliable Wi-Fi or phone signal or near to the Gabbitas office so you can come in and see me.
5. Take your mind off university This might be the most stressful event of your life so far - and as the date approaches, the uncertainty can be agonising. So if you can, take some time out as a family to do something fun. Things are about to get hectic, so enjoy this time while you can.
I hope you find this guide useful and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any further advice.
Good luck and do let me know how you get on.
